The project consists of 60 posters (A0 size), together forming a 100-metre long colourful ribbon in this (semi-)public space. The texts about the weather and weather conditions that are used act as metaphors of cultural identity and are in various languages; enigmatic, volatile, poetic and sometimes downright astonishing.
Untranslatable terms make it clear that there are possibilities to perceive the world in a different way. Each language enriches our experience of the world. Weatherness is a plea for multilingualism that could serve as an antidote to the (mental) walls that countries are currently erecting around themselves. In contrast, Weatherness offers passers-by a virtual journey that crosses borders.
